A few weeks ago, we organized a community workshop which gathered some of our portfolio companies’ HR directors and CEOs around the topic of HR assessment tools. Indeed, although this topic is very exciting and promising, it is not quite easy to get a clear view on the tools on the market.

Dolead: a strong value proposition but identified operational silos

When we invested in Dolead in 2018, we were really seduced by the strength of the company value proposition and the vision of the two founders, Guillaume Heintz and Arthur Saint-Père, of their industry (the lead generation market). They had tried different business models since the creation of the company and they had found theirs, consistent with their product and technology and fitting the clients need: they settled on the idea to provide very high quality leads, generated by advanced technology, to brands in areas such as energy, telecommunications, home security…

Indeed, the Sales figures were quite impressive in terms…

Earlier this month, we gathered the Ring portfolio companies around one key issue for tech scale-ups which is the role and the place of the CMO. Indeed, since we started investing in French tech B2B scale-ups, we have the feeling that building a strong marketing and brand in B2B tech companies is a real challenge. That’s why we tried to understand what is specifically at stake when building a marketing team and a CMO role.

In order to create good conversations within the portfolio we try to have one return on experience from one portfolio company as well as an…

Ring2Success, the operational support program dedicated to the portfolio companies of Ring Capital, presents a new series of content which gives the floor to some of its experts in order to have their views on the business priorities to accelerate growth.

This week, we had Bonnie Ravina, our Operating Partner in the US and expert in B2B marketing, give her vision on how to accelerate growth by expanding in the US and what is at stake. She specifically answers 3 questions:

  1. What are the key challenges of US expansion for French tech scale-ups?
  2. What is selling high and thought leadership?
  3. What is THE best practice you would recommend?

This is basically — almost in those terms — the question we asked ourselves 6 months ago.

Indeed, at Ring we invest in french tech and digital scaleups and help them accelerate growth, mostly through internationalisation, build-up strategy and scale-up of the organisation.

At this stage, more than half of the companies we have invested in since the inception of Ring Capital, 3 years ago, are expanding in the US. They are willing to make America their first market in terms of revenue within 3 years. This echoes one of our key convictions about the necessity to go quickly to the US for French tech companies (read America First, blogpost by Nicolas Celier, may 2018).

“Given the…

Ring2Success, the operational support program dedicated to the portfolio companies of Ring Capital, presents a new series of content which gives the floor to some of its experts in order to have their views on the business priorities to accelerate growth.

This week, we interviewed Yannick Grandjean, founder and CEO of Sirsa, who works with entrepreneurs, corporates and investment funds on their ESG/CSR approach and reporting.

In this video, Yannick focuses on how to drive CSR activities in fast growing scale-ups by answering 3 questions:

  1. How can a scale-up structure its CSR approach?
  2. Who in the company should be in charge of CSR?
  3. How can one launch its CRS approach?

Ring2Success, the operational support program dedicated to the portfolio companies of Ring Capital, presents a new series of content which gives the floor to some of its experts in order to have their views on the business priorities to accelerate growth.

In this video, Florence answers to 3 questions:

  1. How can HR contribute to the company’s growth acceleration?
  2. What are the key priorities?
  3. If there was only one, what would be THE HR good practice?

Since March, various economic agents have been trying to identify the impacts of Covid on companies on three levels and define what is exactly this “resilience” they all talk about.

First, the short-term impacts, mainly on companies’ cash flow and ability to survive the violent drops in sales that have affected a significant number of companies, with the exception of a few sectors. To date, and fortunately for most companies, these impacts seem to be managed, in particular thanks to the exceptional support of the State via (i) partial unemployment measures, (ii) the deferral of expenses and taxes and (iii) financing mechanisms set up by public authorities such as “PGE” and other mechanisms via Bpifrance.

Then, the medium-term impacts on various economic sectors can be estimated through the speed of…
